5 Success Habits for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Master these habits and understand the importance of taking immediate action. Not tomorrow, not next week. Right now.

Successful business owners know that a primary key to success is consistency. But consistency, alone, won’t get you where you want to be overnight. If you are like me, you have a burning desire to succeed … and you’re okay with putting in the time to get there.

In the interest of getting you where you want to be, here are five success habits every aspiring entrepreneur should learn, master and teach; because that’s what entrepreneurship is all about: growing together.

  1. Develop a strong belief system.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate your personal belief level? Do you believe that what you want to achieve can actually come true? Learn to fuel your plans with every “No”. Every time someone says, “Ya know, I’m just not interested!” allow it to fuel you, instead of burn you down. Let’s get one thing straight: If you don’t believe it is possible, then it’s not. Grow your inner belief and watch your business grow right along with it.

  2. Display courage daily.

We all have days where we can barely stand to pick up the phone. You have likely heard of the phrase “Wrong side of the bed?” Well, thankfully you can learn how to wake up on the “right side of the bed” every single morning. It’s true. Ultimately, you just need to remember how you spend your day, and what you get done in that time, is up to you. Look inward when things are not going your way. Instead of blaming others (or the wrong side of the bed) for your problems, ask yourself what you can do differently tomorrow.

  3. Keep score.

Every successful entrepreneur started somewhere, right? After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day. In fact, nothing worthwhile is made overnight. Keep score by creating 30, 60 and 90 day goals. Then schedule time to evaluate your progress. When you successfully complete one goals — celebrate. Don’t make excuses. Even if it is your first client, or your first sale. Maybe you just opened your doors and you haven’t sold a darn thing yet. That’s okay. Remind yourself that you are trying and master the habit of keeping score.

  4. Persist and persevere.

By definition, when you persist you will remain “firm or obstinate in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.” When you persevere you are steadfast in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Both of these qualities are necessary for future success. Do what others don’t, so you can have what others won’t.

  5. Become a learner.

There are 3 very simple ways to ensure that you are always learning. Read daily. Teach daily. Repeat… daily. Read what other successful people do in your industry to learn what is working and what’s not. You are capable of doing the very same thing. So do it. Develop a constant hunger to learn more, be more, and do more — it adds tremendously to your quality to life.

Master these habits and understand the importance of taking immediate action. Not tomorrow, not next week. Right now.
