When Jeffrey Shardell is not chasing tornadoes throughout the Central Plains, snowboarding in Tahoe, or Mountain biking in the Bay Area he is building startups.
The ex Google employee turned entrepreneur, is no stranger to adventure, technology and business. The former Director of Business Development at Google successfully co-founded and sold beauty e-tailer Gloss.com to Estee Lauder in 2000. Now he’s looking to stake his claim in the peer-to-peer online shopping industry.
In 2011, Shardell launched Palcycle a social online shopping community that enables users to buy and sell their goods with no hassle and no back-end fees. “There should be a safer and easier way for people to buy and sell things online,” said Shardell.
“For many, buying and selling online can be a daunting prospect and a risky proposition of dealing with strangers. But on Palcycle, you set the trust level of those you’d like to engage with … our technology platform is designed to overcome the fundamental trust and security problems associated with online peer-to-peer transactions.”
Learn how Jeffrey decided to launch Palcycle and why he believes you should surround yourself with smart, creative and diverse people.

How I Got Started:
I’ve had these interestingly repeatable intersections throughout my life where I’ve been involved in technology companies, as well as health and beauty companies. I was an early employee at both Netscape and Google. But previously in my career, I worked for Johnson and Johnson. I was also the Co-Founder of Gloss.com, an online cosmetics company.
